COVID-19 UPDATE: OFFERING ONLINE THERAPY AND IN-OFFICE SERVICES. WEST LOS ANGELES
* I discovered my passion for psychology when I was 16 years old after attending my own therapy treatment.
* I started to study psychology at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina, where I became fascinated with the unconscious processes of the human mind.
* I earned a B.A. in Psychology at California State University Los Angeles (graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors).
* I earned a M.A. in Psychology With Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy (with a 4.0 GPA) at California Graduate Institute of the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
* I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California (LMFT93659).
* I started to see clients in 2009.
* I am a clinical supervisor and help therapists learn the skills necessary to become licensed professionals.
* I always worked in parallel at both -the private and community mental health settings.
* I practiced at different community mental health programs (including Wraparound and Full Service Partnership) providing services to the Department of Mental Health.
* I have experience working with children, adults, couples, families, groups, and court mandated cases.
* I have taken multiple extra-curriculum trainings, courses, and workshops to further my therapeutic skills.
* I am writing a book about emotional wounds and its impact on emotional development and relationships.
* I am bilingual Spanish.
* Overcoming many difficult life experiences was my best school to learn how to help others.
* I was born and raised in Argentina (although I am from Lithuanian and Scottish descent).
* I have been living in Los Angeles for the past 20+ years.
* I have a beautiful daughter, who is currently attending college.
* I have a black and white cat named Oreo. Oreo is not yet ready to attend college.
* I have found my other half. His love makes my days feel whole.
* I am very intuitive and patient.
* I play piano.
* I love to decorate.
* Although I have been trained in multiple modalities of treatment and theories, I don't feel like any theory in particular contains all the necessary interventions to help human beings. Individuals are unique and so are their needs. Their treatments should be unique as well.
* I select interventions according to what I feel would benefit my clients the most (according to their circumstances, style, culture, and way of learning).
* I like to educate and inform my clients. I believe that helping clients understand about their diagnoses, processes, and/or behavioral mechanisms can benefit them in the long run.
* My role is to teach my clients how to live without me... is to give them the necessary tools to leave the therapy nest and fly. My clients can always come back for some extra support or help to adjust to new life circumstances, but I want them to be able to independently thrive.
* I don't believe that clients have to attend therapy every week if they don't need it. Except on special circumstances, my clients can select to have an intermittent attendance to treatment according to their needs.
* Over the years and through the use of different therapeutic tools and trainings, I have developed an approach to work with clients that facilitates deep, long lasting change -in a considerably short period of time.
* My clients can try to call me 24/7 if a serious crisis arises (911 should always be called in a life threatening situation). If the crisis is less serious and a session is needed sooner than scheduled, I will try my best to accommodate my schedule to meet sooner or I will provide support over the phone until we can meet.
